Day Trip To Heidelberg- Travel dairies

Hello July..

And it's already been half a year. How fast time flies is simply incredible isn't it ??

Slowly, but thank God, normality is returning again and I have already done my first short trip together with my friends in beautiful Heidelberg. It was a great weekend, we had perfect weather and enjoyed the city trip to the fullest.

I am going to share my experience of this trip with you guys. Actually, Heidelberg was my first trip after coming to Germany because before this trip, we were locked in our homes due to Corona. The situation in Germany is slowly getting better but still we are taking full precautions and maintaining social distancing.

So Guys, let's talk about Heidelberg now. Heidelberg is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. If you have only a few days in Germany and you want the most bang for your buck... The Heidelberg should be on your list.
It's centrally located in Germany and was one of the few towns not reduced to rubble in WWII. The city gives a feeling of relaxation and peace, as if one is enjoying the comforts of 21st century with the life and history of the 20th century. :)

The melodious ensemble of Castle, old town and river surrounded by the mountain has already inspired the poets and painters of romance and fascinated millions of visitors from all over the world. As one of the few German cities, Heidelberg survived the Second World War almost unharmed and thus has an unharmed old town.

This city is famous for its University, the oldest in Europe. Heidelberg is located on the banks of the Neckar River, has several museums to visit and an imposing Castle that welcomes you and you can see it from anywhere in the city. It was very nice to meet students at the university in their streets who give this beautiful city a cheerful atmosphere.

You know, what i love about Europe are these tiny cobbled streets. And Heidelberg is killing the game in this department. Let me assure you that you will have nice and classy landscapes as you walk around this small but amply visited city. Aaaahhhh

first, we will talk about Castle. So guys, Heidelberg Castle is amazing, no doubt, and it is one of the must-see German destinations. The palace has a lot of history, but it's main attraction is their Wine barrel. Fun Fact: Heidelberg Castle is hiding the world's largest Wine barrel.
You can stop at the viewing point at the top for a breather and then continue in to the castle courtyard and back out the other side. Here are some pictures.

Second, Church of the holy spirit. And the most interesting tidbit of its history for me was learning that in 1720, a divider was installed to separate the church into two sections, because the city's Catholics and protestants both held onto their right to hold services there. The barrier remained in place until 1936. Today, the church is exclusively Protestant. The beautiful spire can be seen from all over town.

Third, Old Bridge or Monkey Bridge. So, the Karl Theodor bridge, better known as the "Old Bridge", is a sandstone bridge over the Neckar in Heidelberg. It connects the old town with the opposite bank of the Neckar. The view from the bridge is almost as good as view from the Castle.
Legend suggests that the Heidelberg Monkey is symbolically holding a mirror up to its viewers as they pass by to remind themselves that they are no better than anyone else, ahead or behind them.

Fourth, Marktplatz. The Marktplatz is a central gathering spot located between Holy Church and the Rathaus. Every Wednesday and Saturday you will find a market with local products on the Marktplatz, Heidelberg's main square. Perfect place to pick up some local hand made crafts.

There are a lot of amazing designs around the city of Heidelberg, and it's fun even if you're just walking around. There are quite a few places where you can sit down right next to the water, take a beer and chill out. I consider myself fortunate to be able to visit this fairy tale city. Many couples also make the way to Heidelberg to shoot pre wedding and post wedding snaps as  the background is magnificent along the river.

  8. Such an interesting & engaging post! I am visiting Zugspitze Massif Germany next week with my wife & kids and giving them a relatable mascot would add fun to the trip. We are getting our Germany Visa in a day or two and I couldn’t be more thankful to you for bringing up such a brilliant idea. Keep up the good work.
