Ideas for Hosting an Amazing House Party | Guide

Parties are all about bringing people together and having fun. It’s fun to go every once in a while, have a good time, meet new people, and make memories.

2 weeks ago, I hosted a dinner party for friends. It went off perfectly and we had a good time. My husband and I had managed everything very well and I felt that a house party is way way better than taking your guests/friends out.

The host or hostess sets the mood of the party. So make your guest feel comfortable in your home.

But how do you do it? Here's our step by step guideline and planning checklist for house party--

1. Make a timeline

Select the date ,venue and time for the party and decide the theme ( theme is optional ).

2. Create your Guest List

Before inviting people, Always keep your budget and the size of your house in mind. If your guest wish list is larger than your space, consider hosting a couple of smaller parties.

3. Decide Budget

It depends on the party and size of it. If you are hosting a few friends, the possibilities are either you are going to cook for them or they might bring the food.

But If it's a more formal, you need to calculate the ratios of food/drink per person

4. Decide Place

You should chose a place that can accommodate the amount of people you will be hosting. Take a look at the room/terrace/space where you’re having your party and always have extra room ready in your house in case someone needs to stay over.

5. Send out Invitations

Send invites from at-least 2-3 weeks before so that your guests have enough tie to schedule work accordingly. Last minute invites are a big big No. Make sure to pick a date when most of your guests are free.

6. Make a Playlist of Good Songs

The music you play should influence the mood of your guest to a greater extend.

7. Order supplies for decoration / Grocery Shopping

Try to order/buy all the decoration items two weeks in advance and bring fresh groceries from your nearby stores.

8. Check the parking spot

You can ask help with your neighbors.

9. Sitting Arrangements

Place the furniture's and plan proper sitting arrangements for guests. Use furniture you already own or you can also rent some. And don't forget to remove breakables and lock up your valuables.

10. Clean your Toilet

Make sure your bathrooms are clean and stocked with toilet paper, tissues, hand towels and soap.

11. Light the Candles and Flowers

For extra touch, Decorate with lights, candles and with items that you can use again for other parties as well.
Try to use warm and dim lights.

12. Have a table set up for drinks and snacks

In case some party guests get hungry again from all the dancing. Guests could pick what they wanted, like a buffet.

13. Free yourself before your guest arrive

Be present with your guests.

14. Make your guest feel comfortable and Empower them to help themselves

Guests can feel awkward having to ask every time they need something. Make things easier.

15. Plan fun activities

You can play A movie marathon, Truth and Dare,Murder Mystery (Where each guest is given a role to play),Reverse  Charades (In this, the entire team has to act out the word and one person guesses ) etc.

16. Let the booze flow

Make sure you have enough Drinks, ice and water for everyone.

17. Plan snacks and Meal

Keep it simple !!

I would suggest some easy party snacks like Pav Bhaji, Cucumber stick with dip,Pasta, Grilled Sandwiches, Veg platter, potato chips with dip,Chicken platter etc. Always make sure that none of your guests have allergies or serious diet restrictions.

18. Safety

If you serve alcohol at the party, it's important that your guests don't drive home after drinking alcohol.

A good host is always the one who treats everyone nicely and keeps the party lit. Hope this will help you to be a great party host.

Once it’s all over, Wrap up everything and It’s time to sit back and relax! :)

#Cheers
